An update on my last comment:

Steorn are now asking 400 euros from people to get a development licence for Orbo - yet they have proved nothing!

So, to all those believers out there who said this couldn't be a con: now can you see how Steorn are going to make (fleece) money from the public?

There are no excuses now.

I visit the steorn site every month or so. At my latest visit, the forum seems to have disappeared but is replaced by a paid-only subscription. So, al the skeptics will disappear, and the true beleiver (otherwise known as mugs) are about to be fleeced.

Iread this quote:

"I think things are looking promising! If everything that Sean McCarthy presented today is completely forthright and above board, and if the promised data sets are as he has represented, we are all in for some fascinating times ahead!"

Same old rubbish: Some time in the future we will have something.

Well, I guess that's it for Steorn and Orbo - so far they have: a failed demo, a demo run by a battery, a hidden jury with no conclusion, broken promises of products, no information released.

They have nothing, and they know it, we know it and only a few closed-minded individuals who cannot accept that dreams don't always come true still believe it.

In Jan 2010, they promised a rollout of Orbo to developers in Feb 2010, (broken promise), and we should see products in "the second quarter of 2010." Ie: by end June they will announce a delay due to technical problems.

Hi, there, "Free Orbo".

Looks like I'm still right, doesn't it?

Oh, here's "Orb Works", who thinks that Steorn has brought this technology to market! What market did you buy yours at? How's it working out for you? Does it power your car?

No, Steorn has still resolutely failed to prove anything, publish anything, demonstrate anything, or even make a coherent and consistent claim. There is no "working prototype". There's nothing but snake oil and bullshit (and a free t-shirt!) that impresses the feeble-minded fools who hang out on "I want to believe" forums.

hi Sean McCarthy
i am please that the free magnetic energy is in the space, and we are not using this source of energy, because we need to considerate is great energy source taht is comin from the cosmic system, i am thinking wat is the result if we can make a estator gig around of gthe world and capture the energetic magnetic field ... could be produce big quantity of the elecricity... for the cities of the world.
but we need increase the tecnology to realice the big nachine as generator using the field magnetic of the world....
is facinating to proyect for the moment could be a crazy proyect at moment.. but there is in own eyes...

Thanks for the link to your article, Pierre.

I think that more media will become interested if and when there is some third party verification of Steorn's claims. We have been told by the company that more information will be released following the independent testing that is going on right now in Dublin, so like everyone else I'm just waiting for now.

Hi, I just read your post. I work for a "mainstream"... newspaper in Quebec City (CAN). I wrote something about Steorn just before their final demo, because I have been following the company ever since their ad in The Economist.
here is the lilnk:
http://www.cyberpresse.ca/le-soleil/actualites/science-et-technologie/201001/30/01-944706-une-batterie-jamais-a-plat.php (beware, it's in french....)
I share the same surprise with regards to the absence of interest from the media, given Steorn's claims on one hand, but also their openness to scrutiny. I would have expected at least a few curious reporters would have poked in there, but as far as media coverage goes I think I am the only reporter to have written a piece in the press. I still don't understand why the silence.
I haven't had the occasion to write something after the final demo. I think that the experience was really targeting a technical audience, engineers and so on, more than the general public. You either know the technology and can draw your own conclusions from the oscilloscopes, or you don't.
I might try to see where this is going at the end of the month, but until now I feel that the Steorn team and S. McCarthy's attitude have been open and at this point I see nothing that points to a hoax or to bad science. The real test will be decided by the developpers. If they don't replicate what Steorn claims about Orbo in a reasonable time, 12-24 months, then we'll have a pretty good idea..

Hi Dufus,

Thanks for the interesting comment. I actually think that a technology like Orbo has the potential to throw all current economic models out of the window. We have never lived in a society where energy is essentially free -- and if free energy is a reality we are looking at a society where consumers' dependence on "the system" could be greatly reduced. I don't know where it might all lead, but we may be approaching a period of radical social change such as we never seen before.

What's left out of all such analyses (good or bad) as the one above is that -- no matter how true any of this would or could be from a purely economic POV -- not one of these projections deals with the fundamental issue of the matter: the capitalist system itself. And it is the maintenance of capitalist relations of production which will put the kibosh on any and all attempts to use such a novel gift to humanity for the simple betterment of that humanity -- without going thru the usual assortment of 'middle men' and mafias and all those who demand their 'take' of the 'action'. In fact, such a spanner in the works of capitalism will simply deepen its growing crisis all the further and more rapidly.

Better to just 'deep six' the technology -- and maybe Steorn too. If you think in capitalist terms, and operate by capitalist logic.
