Following all things related to Steorn and Orbo technology

I have been following the details of Steorn’s ongoing public launch here for a while now – and apparently there is still lots to be revealed between now and the rest of January. Many people are watching and waiting to see if more conclusive proof of Steorn’s claims will be forthcoming.

The reason I have given Steorn and its technology so much time and attention is the revolutionary nature of what the company is claiming and the manner in which they are presenting it to the public. It appears they will be going to great lengths later this months to provide validation of their Orbo technology in a public forum. If Orbo truly does provide “free, clean and constant energy at the point of use”, then Sean McCarthy is not exaggerating in saying that Steorn is offering a technology that could “change everything”.

If you seriously start to think through the implications of what free energy could actually mean, you start to realize that if it was real there would be massive changes in most of the things we do as human beings.

In its launch ad, Steorn says, “Imagine a world with an infinite supply of pure energy. Imagine never having to recharge your phone. Imagine never having to refuel your car”.  I have tried to imagine these things and here are some brief thoughts on a number of areas that I think would be affected.

Energy Production

We would no longer be dependent on the raw materials we currently use for our energy needs.  Whole industries would be severely impacted such as coal mining and oil and gas production. The current alternative energy industries such as solar and wind power would also be greatly affected. Who would want to continue pursuing these fields if a better alternative were available?

Energy industries undergird the whole global economy and millions of people are employed in them. Entire national economies are dependent upon the production and sale of fossil fuels. Successful Orbo technology would mean a great deal of social and economic upheaval for many.

Manufacturing
Free energy would mean huge cost savings in manufacturing. Energy, materials and human costs make up the major costs for manufacturers. If energy is free,  then materials will be much cheaper since the costs of extracting raw materials would be much cheaper with free energy.

Agriculture
Huge amounts of energy are used in agriculture. Free energy would reduce farmers’ costs dramatically and lead to cheaper food. With free energy new techniques of irrigation would be possible, such as desalinaton of  sea water which would allow for crops to be grown in places that are currently arid and infertile.

Society
Free energy would have a huge impact on the lives of individuals everywhere. Energy costs are a major part of most households’ budgets. If energy were free,  costs of living would be dramatically reduced. Combining the elimination of energy costs with cheaper food and manufactured goods,  standards of living would be much higher.

It is conceivable that the whole economic order of things would change completely. Today people enter the workforce largely out of necessity to purchase the things needed to sustain life.  The material benefits associated with free energy would mean less effort would be required to acquire the necessities and much more leisure time could come available to the average person. This could have profound implications for societies around the world.

Politics and Government
Currently there are nations whose wealth derives largely from the energy producing raw materials they control. Free energy could severely impact the economic fortunes of these countries and lead to destabilization in the geopolitical arena.

Governments everywhere would have to adapt to the reality of free energy and some of the most fundamental  policies that they carry out may have to be completely rethought. For example, what would happen to revenues from fuel taxes if people no longer needed petroleum for transportation? What welfare services would be required if basic human needs were being met much more easily?

Looking at some of the possible affects of free energy I can see the potential for social turmoil and great opportunities for advancements in civilization existing at the same time. That could be a volatile combination and it’s impossible to predict what would actually happen. Even if Orbo technology is for real it may take a long time for free energy products to come onto the market and the worldwide changes contemplated here may take a long time to become a reality. Whatever the pace of change might be, thinking about all the implications of free energy is almost like trying to come up with a plot for a science fiction book — it all seems so impossible and far fetched.

Yet we have a small Irish company that is acting with all seriousness claiming they have discovered a technology that will spark a revolution that will change everything.  Fact or fiction?  Imagination or a future reality? We’ll have to wait and see.

A brief greeting was posted on the forum at www.steorn.com today:

Folks,

Hope that you all have a great Holiday – the fun starts in January – hope to see you then.

Thanks,

Steorn

Today is the last day of the December phase of the public demonstration. The demonstration starts up again on January 5th and it sounds like there will be much more information forthcoming during the first part of 2010. Perhaps then Steorn will make greater strides in convincing the world of its claims about Orbo.

Steorn has claimed that the launch of its Orbo technology will start a revolution.  CEO Sean McCarthy says that what Steorn is offering is “an opportunity for us as a species and us as a society to change everything”. I don’t think you’ll find a more bold claim coming from an energy company and in making it Steorn is flying in the face of accepted scientific doctrine which holds that overunity technology is impossible.

So how is the claim being received? Well, there are a number of forums on the web where people are paying attention to the company and much discussion is taking place. It has been interesting to see that along with the people who believe that Steorn is an obvious fraud or scam, there are also others who are intrigued with the claims. Some people are actively cheering on the company, believing that they have something that will help solve energy problems. Here are a few sample comments taken from Steorn’s Youtube channel.

“sounds like complete BS, gaining energy from no apparent source? BS i tell you”

“If it generates more power than it uses then why does it need a battery ? This is a total fraud”

“Wow, I thought this hoax died years ago.”

“While I’m not convinced, I’ll still keep an eye on news on the matter. ”

“i think it’s for real… (hoping).”

“This experiment was awesome. If you can produce torque without CEMF then you have an overunity machine!”

“Keep the info coming, guys. The world is hungry for this information. We NEED this technology”

“It would be the greatest discovery EVER. ”

These are just a few of the comments out there – but they illustrate the wide range of opinion about Steorn’s claims. The company says that they have been expecting much skepticism and over the course of the demonstration — especially in the January session — they hope to be able to allay critics through more live demonstrations and experiments.

So how goes the Orbo revolution? Well it’s early days yet, but it appears that they have succeeded in getting some initial attention and from the intensity of the debate there are people who are extremely interested in all that is taking place at the Waterways in Dublin.

At the Waterways Visitors Centre in Dublin, Ireland Steorn has finally launched its Orbo free energy technology to the public.

At Steorn’s website there is live streaming video of the Orbo device they are displaying as well as new video that provides more information about the device and the technology behind it.

There are two phases for the public demonstation: December 15-23, and January 5-31.  During December there will be talks about Orbo technology by Steorn CEO Sean McCarthy, and in January there will be streaming of “live validation and replication”

So after many years and much controversy Steorn’s technology has finally been made public. Undoubtably there will be intense scrutiny of their device and the claims they make about it, and the controversies will continue, but it appears that Steorn are ready to make their case.

I was very pleased that Sean McCarthy was willing to answer the questions I put to him earlier this week. I think we have a clearer picture of what to expect from Steorn if we take Sean’s statements at face value.

Here is a summary of key information that I got from the information provided in the Q&A session.

1. Sometime this year (2009) Steorn will publicly demonstrate via live video on their web site more than one Orbo-powered device.

2. The primary purpose of the demonstrations will be to attract the interest of individuals and companies who want to develop Orbo-powered products.

3. To become an Orbo product developer you will have to pay a “low-cost” license to Steorn.

4. ZeroF passive magnetic bearings, a technology  Steorn has developed, are key ingredients for successful implementation of Orbo.  Steorn will be selling these bearings to developers who want to use them.

5. “Every single part of an Orbo interaction can be explained using classical physics, except the net result”

6.  ”There are no theoretical limits” to the power output of Orbo technology. In theory then, Orbo can be used in any application that now requires power. The practical limits will be determined by levels of engineering.

7.  Orbo can be engineered directly into devices: they will not be dependent on the grid or external power generating sources.

These claims are very intriguing, and highly controversial. Sean did say that he understood the widespread levels of skepticism, and it looks like the launch of Orbo will be largely a campaign to show that their technology is for real. I think the latter end of 2009 could prove to be very interesting.

I have spent quite a lot of time recently studying the claims of Steorn, the Dublin, Ireland based company who are developing Orbo technology – “Free, Clean and Constant Energy” according to the company. Their web site has quite a lot of information about the technology, along with some very interesting video testimony of three engineers who were given permission to carefully test Steorn’s Orbo technology.

Over the last couple of days, Steorn’s CEO, Sean McCarthy, has been communicating with members of the public forum at Steorn’s site and made some very interesting comments about their technology, and has affirmed that the public launch of orbo will take place this year. You can read a good summary of his comments here (Thanks to Free Energy Truth for compiling those remarks) If you visit the public forum at Steorn’s site, be warned — there are regular members of that forum who are harsh and constant critics of  Steorn, so it may not be the best place to find unbiased information . (It’s kind of  unusual for a company to host a forum populated by bashers). The main Steorn website, however, has lots of very interesting information about Steorn’s technology and the way it plans to implement it.

Steorn claims to have an extremely interesting and potentially revolutionary technology, and I feel the company is well worth keeping an eye on.
